Who We Are

Elton is a boutique specialist commercial law firm helping business owners, lenders and investors transact with confidence. We advise on debt and equity raising, business and property sale and acquisition transactions, corporate structuring, and ongoing embedded in-house legal support.

Founded in 2026 by our Principal, JJ Aldahr, and based in Sydney, Elton draws on more than a decade of experience across top-tier firms and one of Australia’s leading financial institutions. That background means we combine the rigour of big-law training with the commercial focus and agility of a boutique.

About JJ Aldahr

JJ has over 10 years’ experience in finance and commercial law.

He began his career at Clayton Utz and Allens, where he worked on complex banking and finance transactions, corporate restructures and high-value acquisitions. His training in these environments instilled a disciplined, detail-oriented approach to risk allocation, documentation and negotiation.

JJ later moved in-house to Macquarie Bank, where he advised directly alongside deal teams within the business bank. In that role, he supported secured lending transactions, acquisition finance, property-backed facilities, and ongoing portfolio management matters.

Working inside a bank reshaped his approach to legal advice. Rather than advising from the sidelines, JJ operated within commercial teams, balancing credit risk, regulatory obligations, time pressure and client relationships in real time. He understands how decisions are actually made, what matters to founders and credit committees, and where legal input adds genuine strategic value.

Across his career, JJ has advised:

  • Private lenders and non-bank financiers

  • SME founders and growth-stage businesses

  • Property investors and developers

  • Corporate borrowers and sponsors

  • Buyers and sellers in business and asset transactions

He has worked on transactions ranging from early-stage funding rounds to multi-million-dollar secured lending facilities and business acquisitions.

Their advice is commercially sharp, responsive and pragmatic. They operate as a true extension of our leadership team.

General Counsel, FinTech

Elton Law Group played a critical role in delivering key strategic advice and were a driving force behind a major M&A transaction for our business. JJ’s technical depth and ability to lead complex negotiations materially contributed to a successful outcome.

Director, Family Office

We’ve worked with Elton Law Group across a number of private lending transactions. What stands out is how quickly they grasp the commercial context and cut straight to what matters. We feel properly protected, but never slowed down by over-lawyering.
